The Best Way To Make Friends in Lafayette, LA as a Young Adult
Struggling to make friends in Lafayette, LA? Parish Nights offers a fun, wholesome, and welcoming way for young adults to meet people through country swing dancing every Friday night.

Making friends as a young adult isn’t easy—especially after college or when you’re new to town. Lafayette has plenty of fun things to do, but most of them are hard to enjoy if you don't know anyone. You can go to a festival, a bar, or a concert, but if you're going solo, it’s easy to end up standing alone for hours, scrolling on your phone, and wishing you had someone to talk to.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. So many people in Lafayette—college students, recent grads, and young professionals—feel the same way. They go to work, go home, and repeat. But deep down, they’re craving a real sense of community and friendship.
That’s exactly why Parish Nights exists.
What Is Parish Nights?
Parish Nights is a weekly country swing and line-dancing night created just for young adults ages 18–30s. It’s designed to help people make friends in Lafayette the easy way—by giving you something fun, structured, and social to do together.
Every Friday, 25–40+ young adults gather at Rejuven8 Fitness Studio (2811 Kaliste Saloom Rd B). The doors open at 8:50 PM, and we kick off the beginner-friendly lesson at 9 PM sharp. You’ll check in at the front desk, sign a quick digital waiver, and jump right into learning simple dance moves—no experience required. The night wraps up at 10:30 PM, but most people stay to chat and laugh long after the music fades.
Why It Works (Even If You’re Shy)
Our founder, Chung, built Parish Nights as an introvert himself. He knows that walking into a big crowd or trying to start conversations out of nowhere can feel intimidating. That’s why each Friday is structured to make it effortless for shy people or newcomers to connect naturally.
Instead of awkward small talk, you learn something fun with everyone else. You rotate partners, laugh over missed steps, and before you know it—you’ve met 10 new people without even trying. It’s social, but it’s not stressful.
“I came alone my first night, and within 10 minutes, people were introducing themselves and teaching me the steps. I left with actual friends.”
The People Make It Special
What keeps everyone coming back isn’t just the dancing—it’s the community. Every person there is around your age, kind, and open to meeting new friends. There’s no pressure, no cliques, and no judgment.
Each week, you start recognizing faces, remembering names, and building real friendships that go beyond Friday nights. Many of our members even hang out together during the week—grabbing coffee, hiking, or attending local events.
Affordable, Fun, and Wholesome
Parish Nights is also one of the most affordable things to do in Lafayette. You can drop in for $10 per night or become a member for just $18 per month. That’s less than the price of a single cocktail downtown—and you’ll leave with far more than a hangover.
Instead of loud music and surface-level chatter, you’ll find a place that’s fun, wholesome, and real. It’s the kind of night that reminds you how good it feels to belong.
If You’ve Been Wanting to Make Friends…
Maybe you’ve been telling yourself you’ll try something new “one of these weeks.” This is your sign to do it. Whether you come solo or bring a friend, you’ll be welcomed the moment you walk through the door.
